Yogyakarta – Prof. Dr. Drs. Suyato, M.Pd., a leading academic in the field of Curriculum and Civic Education (PPKn), has completed 31 years of service at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) on 1 March 2025. His long journey as an educator and researcher has resulted in various innovations in PPKn teaching and shaped a generation of young people with strong character. The pinnacle of his dedication was achieved on 1 December 2024, when he was officially inaugurated as a Professor, marking the highest achievement in his academic career. Currently, he has been entrusted with the position of Head of the PPKnH Department at UNY, where he continues to develop curricula and learning models relevant to the challenges of the times.

In his inaugural speech on 31 December 2024, Prof. Suyato presented the concept of Deep Learning in Civic Education as an innovative approach that can improve students' understanding and engagement in the subject of Pancasila and Civic Education. This concept emphasises deep, reflective, and problem-solving-based learning, thereby fostering critical and competitive learners in the global era.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Suyato has always received the full support of his beloved wife, Sri Endang Edi Sukarti, S.Pd., M.Pd., and his four children, who have achieved success in various fields. With unwavering enthusiasm, he continues to contribute to research, scientific publications, and student mentoring at various levels. His work as an academic and educational leader has made him an inspirational figure who is expected to continue contributing to the strengthening of civic education in Indonesia.
