.Yogyakarta, 15 April 2025

Lecturers in the Doctoral Program in Civics Education (PKn), Faculty of Social, Law, and Political Sciences (FISHIPOL) at Yogyakarta State University (UNY), have obtained copyright for their academic innovation, the "Moral Panic Survey Instrument in the Context of Civics Education." This has now been officially registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

The research team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Mukhamad Murdiono, M.Pd., Dr. Yayuk Hidayah, M.Pd., Dian Satria Charismana, M.Pd., and Iqbal Arpannudin, M.Pd., successfully adapted Stanley Cohen's concept of moral panic to the realm of civics education. This instrument was developed as a scientific response to contemporary social dynamics and serves as an innovation in measuring social phenomena in the classroom.

The instrument development process was carried out through a systematic quantitative approach, encompassing the planning and instrument design stages, as well as data validation and analysis. As a result, this instrument is not only valuable as an academic measurement tool, but also reflects the commitment of the UNY Civics Study Program to producing relevant and solution-oriented work to address the challenges of 21st-century education.

With official recognition as a work of art, the teaching team hopes this instrument can serve as a national reference in the development of research and practice in civics learning. Furthermore, this achievement strengthens the integration of theory and practice in a contextual and transformative educational process.
